Also, I’m kind of a sucker for following a story “from the beginning,” so it’s always been a bit of a hurdle to jump into a long-running title that’s well into the hundreds of issues.

However, DC Comics recently rebooted a ton of their titles, with new #1s across the board, so I’m taking it as an opportunity to see what’s on offer. My lovely wife bought me a package that includes all 52 new titles; I plan on reading through them one by one and tweeting some brief thoughts on each title under the hashtag #new52.

I hopped over to Mezzanine last night for Chillin’ Productions’ fashion/art fair. The place was packed, and I managed to pick up some kickass knitted goods for my grandma. She will be the hippest grandma on the block, I tell you!

The venue, booze, and dance music drew a yuppie-hip crowd—the experience was a lot like shopping at a expensive, über-trendy, ad-hoc mall. Despite experiencing some sticker-shock, I can appreciate the appeal of a unique piece of fashion or art, and to be honest, quite a few vendors appeared to be selling at a discount. Though I’m slightly more partial to events that skew “crafty,” like the unspellable Bazaar Bizarre, I’m sure I’ll check out Chillin’ Productions’ next event.
